It's funny how the press is all over the cover up and and the "conspiracy theories" when something like this happens in a "backwards" country like Pakistan. Maybe some of these reporters need to look at their own countries.

  2. They are certainly willing to go further into the realm of possibilities, but it's still one toe in the cold water. Any conspiracy or inside jobness doesn't sound nice, and it risks the reputation of the media outlet.

This event led me to an experience that mirrors in a very short time our experience of questioning what happened on 9/11. First of all who killed Bhutto? Most likely the ISI. I even heard a news commentator stating the the image of the gunman looked like a plain clothes intelligence agent.

But Musharraf and his US backers didn't want any discussion of this in the press so they tried to float the unlikely scenario that she hit her head, despite dozens of witnesses that stated otherwise. The US media towed the line, not wanting to contradict a government allied with out own, barely calling into question what happened for the first three days.

During that time I spoke with a few people who thought me paranoid rather than educated for surmising that she was killed by the Pakistani government. It certainly wasn't Al Qaeda. Musharraf had done nothing with the $11 billion we have given him to combat terrorism, despite continued reports that Bin Laden is in the country.

So then we see video and images of the gunman aiming and firing his weapon at Bhutto. So Musharraf calles in Scotland Yard (or will it be MI6 agents) to "investigate".

If they don't exhume the body it will an obvious sham.

Can anyone prove to me that Al Qaeda actually exists independent of the Western intelligence apparatus?

You'll remember the report about Osama's "handling officer" being in charge of Benazir Bhutto's security at the time of the first bombing in October:

    http://in.rediff.com/news/2007/oct/19raman.htm

"Brig Ejaz Shah has been strongly criticised by Benazir and her supporters for the security failure and they have demanded his removal and arrest."

Now it's found that Benazir Bhutto was going to deliver a report to Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), "because Bhutto did not trust the Bush administration, which is seen in Pakistan as strongly backing Musharraf" that accuses Osama's "handling officer" of taking part in "an ISI safe house used to rig the elections" the night she was assassinated.

Here are all of the sources for the above statement:

As reported on cooperativeresearch.org, Ijaz Shah was also Omar Sheikh's "supervisor" for the ISI. You can read about him in the "Who Is? Archives."

Also, according to Spencer Ackerman, most of the aid going to Pakistan is in untraceable cash transfers.

And the Pentagon just approved the sale of 18 F-16s to Pakistan.

Solid article summarizing what is known so far with some interesting speculation from unnamed US intelligence officers.
