You can’t make this stuff up; an organization called “Family Security Matters” with links to dick Cheney promotes the idea that Bush should be dictator for life:

“He could then follow Caesar's example and use his newfound popularity with the military to wield military power to become the first permanent president of America, and end the civil chaos caused by the continually squabbling Congress and the out-of-control Supreme Court. President Bush can fail in his duty to himself, his country, and his God, by becoming ‘ex-president’ Bush or he can become ‘President-for-Life’ Bush: the conqueror of Iraq, who brings sense to the Congress and sanity to the Supreme Court. Then who would be able to stop Bush from emulating Augustus Caesar and becoming ruler of the world? For only an America united under one ruler has the power to save humanity from the threat of a new Dark Age wrought by terrorists armed with nuclear weapons."[1]

Blogger Mark Parent connects the dots:

Paul Joseph Watson follows up on this story

I had my suspicions about “Family security matters” when I read this from the website a few days ago:

“As a matter of pure logic, former Director Woolsey remarked that the first and most important condition necessary to keep America safe is ‘not to tie the president's hands’ when it comes to our intelligence programs. A prime example of what not to do is the spectacle that transpired in the Senate just this past week with liberals insisting that court orders be obtained under the FISA program to intercept suspected terrorist conversations occurring between foreign countries! What are they smoking?”

I think we can now safely declare Family Security Matters a direct propaganda arm of the Bush administration.

It’s bad enough that someone would write the above article—but to be linked to the vice president is pretty self-serving to say the least.

    Why am I not surprised

Great find! The article in question is really almost impossible to take a face value. I'm tempted to consider alternative reasons why someone might want to present this. Although I suppose it really is that crazy.

While this may just be an embarrassing remnant of the Administration's courting of the religious right in the country, its a solid reminder of who they got into bed with. Its important to note that if Bush were ever declared "Emperor of America," that we would have a full scale revolution on our hands. People would totally flip out, and they haven't built nearly enough detention centers to house every patriotic American who wouldn't be putting up with it.

That is not likely to happen. They don't want it to because its too disruptive of the economic system. Overt power becomes unattractive as information gathering becomes deeper. With video security systems going in everywhere, data mining, and the Geospatial Intelligence Agency working more closely with domestic intelligence agencies, the means of taking greater authority have become well hidden in technological advancements.

So let's keep our eye both the overt and covert measures that those with power are taking to secure it.

When I read the article I thought it was a prank--a parody or a fake article.

I couldn't believe this was real.

Obviously it was so embarrassing that they had to delete it.

This site "Family Security Matters" is very very suspicious. I think it would be worth the time to expose this site for what it is--a propaganda arm of the White House with direct, and open ties to Dick Cheney.

The website claims to counter "media bias" and yet it is even more ludicrously biased than Fox news. I can't believe some of the garbage that I've read on this site.
