    "What is it doing to us as thoughtful human beings as we face the overwhelming challenges of:

    * Peaking fossil fuel flow rates?
    * Critically degraded ecosystems?
    * A changing climate?
    * An exploding global population?
    * Teetering global economies?
    * An unstable political climate?

    And what is it doing to the rest of the life on this planet?

    Featuring interviews with Daniel Quinn, Derrick Jensen, Jerry Mander, Chellis Glendinning, Richard Heinberg, Thomas Berry, William Catton, Ran Prieur and Richard Manning, What a Way to Go looks at the current global situation and asks the most important questions of all:

    * How did we get here?
    * Why do we keep destroying the planet?
    * What do we truly want?
    * Can we find a vision that will empower us to do what is
      necessary to survive, and even thrive, in the coming decades?"

    I got a chance to see this tonight, and participate in a discussion with the audience and filmmakers. To all the people dismissing environmental issues and calling global warming a hoax or saying "we're too small to effect the global environment," this is for you; this is the paradigm shift that you're resisting.

    The movie addresses the full scope of the issue, including psychological resistance, disconnection, paradigm shift, and honest pessimism. It may start out slow and the narration can be a bit overwhelming, but overall, this is a powerful film that people need to see.

    It's also a good reminder to all of us in the 9/11 truth movement, that 9/11 is just one small event in a much wider and more important context. As I've said many a time, 9/11 truth is a great opportunity for awakening people. But where those people go after they are awakened to this particular deception or where they are directed to go, is critical.

    If environmental concerns don't register in your list or priorities or your worldview, it's time to do some more reflection and some more research.

    The Limits to Growth

    Interesting, would like to see this film...

    I recently picked up a book here from our collection at work called Limits to Growth originally published in the mid seventies by some MIT systems engineers. They analyze human growth & its effects (economic, population, pollution, resource usage, etc.) and put those under the constraints of the inevitably finite resources the earth can provide. Nearly every scenario of growth, including those where technological advancement plays an unrealistically hopeful role, ended in a serious collapse of the global system. Their recommendations were to curb consumption and growth, and instead focus on sustainable practices or what was then called "equillibrium."

    It is a good reminder that this is not "new" thinking at all. In fact it is a very old kind of thinking.

    Glad you're reading that book. I've seen the environmental opponents/skeptics rail against "Limits to Growth" on several occasions.

    Here's one:

    Global warming hysteria serves as excuse for world government http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/march2007/140...

    In the past, the Club of Rome has resorted to deceptive tactics in order to support their plans. In 1972, the Club of Rome, along with an MIT team released a report called "Limits to growth." The report stated that we were to reach an environmental holocaust by the year 2000 due to overpopulation and other environmental problems. Support for their conclusions was gathered by results from a computer model. Aurelio Peccei, one of the founders of the Club of Rome, later confessed that the computer program had been written to give the desired results.

    Many people also like to point out that certain "doomsday predictions" have not been accurate. Yet the timescale we're talking about is so small in the scheme of things and while things may "appear normal" as you go about your business, the dire predictions are all quietly coming true:

    • Mass Extinction
    • Ecological/ecosystem decimation
    • Resource Shortages
    • Teetering Economies
    • Global Warming and changing weather patterns
    • Destructive positive feedback loops

    Some people just don't want to see it.
