I think the problem is getting all the big anti-war, progressive groups and various pissed-off/aware people to agree to promote and strike on a certain day. IAC, ANSWER, Code Pink, World Can't Wait, various Veterans for Peace and socialist/communist orgs, election fraud people, impeachment people, ACLU/rights people, 9/11 truth people--if we could all agree on a date, we could end this nightmare.
Maybe we'll send out an email in regards to this, but I'm a bit skeptical. It was pretty disappointing how World Can't Wait absolutely ignored the General Strike 9/11/07 (I went to one of their meetings to announce it, emailed them, and Janice Matthews is the head of WCW Kansas City and she had informed the leadership about the idea as well). On the other hand, we did get support from CIndy Sheehan (WCW loves her, but not us nutjob truthers for some reason), Michael Moore, Workers for Peace, General Strike for Peace (Chomsky, Zinn, etc)...
I don't think the 5 minute strike will do anything. It's no risk activism and I don't see any gain either. If everyone started meditating for 5 minutes each day (on 9/11, truth, or anything else that matters), that might make a difference. But most people would probably not do anything different and claim they had participated in the 5 minute strike.
So, who has a date sometime in Spring perhaps, when the weather gets decent and that gives us enough time to push this thing like crazy? Or should we scrap this idea?
