strike911.org is nowhere to be found on Google, while it comes up #1 for related searches on Yahoo -- what's up with this?

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=fire...

    http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geu66A98lGNq...

Google bugs me more and more everyday. TruthMove also gets far better rankings on Yahoo than Google.

(Update: OK, it looks like Google has updated their index and now lists strike911.org)

Article about the GS on Newsvine

Thanks to Celestina for giving us the chance to discuss the strike in depth. We didn't think the interview was going to be printing word for word, but I think it reflects well on the action.

    Interesting comments:

    http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboa...

Who are the people in "a coalition of antiwar, 911 Truth, and pro impeachment groups " It would be nice to know WHO is behind this. Who are the individuals?

    reply:

Tis an egoless movement... nobody is behind it...

    is this true?

Half the stores in our Town are participating.
    God, I love Tiburon.

Someone also wrote an open letter on indybay asking local business to close down on 9/11/07. They also made it appear that the letter was written directly by us, which is not so cool.

Final thoughts and a new proposal from GeorgeWashington

The problem wasn't getting the word out. The General Strike was advertised really well. The problem, instead, was that many people (including most Americans) were too comfortable and not motivated enough to take a whole day off from work, from shopping or from school.

Instead of taking a whole day off, let's take 5 minutes off. Almost everyone can sneak away from work for 5 minutes. Everyone can stop shopping for 5 minutes. Many students can make an excuse and get away from their class for 5 minutes.

I think the problem is getting all the big anti-war, progressive groups and various pissed-off/aware people to agree to promote and strike on a certain day. IAC, ANSWER, Code Pink, World Can't Wait, various Veterans for Peace and socialist/communist orgs, election fraud people, impeachment people, ACLU/rights people, 9/11 truth people--if we could all agree on a date, we could end this nightmare.

Maybe we'll send out an email in regards to this, but I'm a bit skeptical. It was pretty disappointing how World Can't Wait absolutely ignored the General Strike 9/11/07 (I went to one of their meetings to announce it, emailed them, and Janice Matthews is the head of WCW Kansas City and she had informed the leadership about the idea as well). On the other hand, we did get support from CIndy Sheehan (WCW loves her, but not us nutjob truthers for some reason), Michael Moore, Workers for Peace, General Strike for Peace (Chomsky, Zinn, etc)...

I don't think the 5 minute strike will do anything. It's no risk activism and I don't see any gain either. If everyone started meditating for 5 minutes each day (on 9/11, truth, or anything else that matters), that might make a difference. But most people would probably not do anything different and claim they had participated in the 5 minute strike.

So, who has a date sometime in Spring perhaps, when the weather gets decent and that gives us enough time to push this thing like crazy? Or should we scrap this idea?

    General Strike 9/11/2008 ?

    http://www.votestrike.com/

Just got an email from some people who are trying to put together a strike for this anniversary...

  11. I'm glad the length of the strike gets discussed here. To use the term general strike for a one day event is an ahistorical use of the term.

Please consider that there are creative actions available. The issue is courage. Please review my"List of 17 911truth action ideas" http://911courage.org/article.php/2008041014391225...

At least consider that bannering with an important URL like ae911truth(with description of what it is-the full name- is more powerful than a banner just imploring a certain action. They have beautiful banners available.
