    Something in the sky

    yeah, i know, we're not really into UFOs but this is kind of an interesting story. many witnesses saw the same thing, in the daytime.

    It sounds like a tired joke--but a group of airline employees insist they are in earnest, and they are upset that neither their bosses nor the government will take them seriously.

    A flying saucerlike object hovered low over O'Hare International Airport for several minutes before bolting through thick clouds with such intense energy that it left an eerie hole in overcast skies, said some United Airlines employees who observed the phenomenon.

    Was it an alien spaceship? A weather balloon lost in the airspace over the world's second-busiest airport? A top-secret military craft? Or simply a reflection from lights that played a trick on the eyes

    UFO's on TruthMove? Public hoax or government secrets.

    There is obviously more than one explanation for this story. From most likely to least likely: It was a public hoax, it was an experimental aircraft, it was a conspiracy among the witnesses, it was a government hoax, and running a distant last, it was an alien space craft.

    TruthMove is into government secrecy. And we know that the government has used the alien UFO story to obscure public awareness of top secret military research for the past 60 years. When their high altitude spy balloon crashed in Roswell, it was a very serious potential national security breach. Too many civilians saw the debris. And we couldn't let Russia figure out that we were using balloons to spy on them. So instead we get a story about some rural folk who think they saw something from another planet. In fairness, some of our government's secret technology probably would appear alien to a great many people.

    If you give credence to the presence of aliens because our government itself has secretly studied the UFO phenomenon, consider one likely reason. They were keeping tabs on the secret technology of other governments, while obscuring the nature of this pursuit.

    And if you are still hoping it was aliens, consider the Drake Equation.

    N = R* × fp × ne × fl × fi × fc × L

    N = Present number of extraterrestrial races capable of interstellar communication R* = Mean rate of star formation, averaged over the lifetime of the Galaxy fp = Fraction of stars that have planets ne = Average number of planets in a planetary system suitable for life fl = Fraction of suitable planets on which life actually develops fi = Fraction of life-bearing planets on which intelligent life develops fc = Fraction of intelligence-bearing planets on which the capacity for interstellar communication develops L = Average lifetime of a technological civilization

    Setting reasonable values for these variables, most logical estimates make it clear that even though the equation does imply that there are other inhabited planets, it also makes it clear that they would be too dispersed to communicate or visit one another. One could speculate greatly from here about faster than light speed travel, or split-state quantum communications(good topic itself), but that doesn't lend any clarity to this news story.

    Why would the government want to expose one of its secret aircraft? There are many possible explanations for this as well. Some speculate that the government actually exposes this technology in order to cover it. In other words, to get the MSM to cover the story the way they always do, and discredit the witnesses.

    This story makes it clear that no one is taking the witnesses seriously. And yet I don't think it highly likely that all these people would come forward, and subject their experience to wide scrutiny, unless they were willing to stand behind their story. However, herein lies an essential aspect of humanity that is endlessly exploited. The witnesses will not have exactly the same story to tell. And if this occurance were to receive any further attention, it is likely that these differences would be exploited to discredit the witnesses. There are many precedents for this.

    There's the lesson that keeps being drilled into the popular consciousness. If you report having seen the secret stuff, your character will be assassinated. This is an implicit rule in the military. For instance, Airforce pilots who see something unusual, know better than to report it, as that would reflect on their psychological stability. You don't let someone pilot the most expensive piece of hardware in the world, who claims to be seeing things.

    People working for the government, who are difficult to discredit, are supposed to know to keep their mouth shut if they see something that might be a government secret. On the other hand, when the public sees something secret, its more challenging for the government to control the situation.

    But, more than likely, it was just an elaborate public hoax, as most widely witnessed sighting have been. Most often just a few balloons with lights inside. In this case it could have been an elaborate craft built around a large helium tank. For that matter they could have included remote control fans to allow movement. I've spent some time thinking about how to do this. Its a fun hobby. But fooling people has its moral limits.
