911Truth.org Anti-Hate Statement (Glenn Beck / Von Brunn) (4 posts)

From a recent email from Janice Matthews:

    4) Anti-Hate statement. Following Glenn Beck's recent attack on us as white supremacists and violent haters of the worst kind (what's new, right?) we wrote a statement rejecting his outrageous hypocrisy, which is available for signatures. If you'd like to do so, please read the statement and follow the directions at http://www.911truth.org/article.php?story=20090616... This is very reminiscent of the significant attacks on us before Jane Harmon's Committee on Homeland Security, by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, in 2007 (see http://www.911truth.org/article.php?story=20071122... ). That followed introduction (and our victory in shutting down after it overwhelmingly passed the house with 404 votes, but before it got to committee hearings in the Senate) the Violent Extremist Homegrown Terrorist Whacked Out Deadly Conspiracy Theorists Gone Wild bill (lovingly referred to as the Thought Crimes Bill, HR1955).

I think it's important that we all know about this history and be watching for reintroduction of similar legislation, in addition to just spewing about how much we're all disgusted by Glenn Beck. Please advise me immediately if you see this introduced. I would expect it to come from Lieberman/Harmon/etc. I assume you all know we've been listed as a hate group by the ADL, on a CD-ROM they distribute to every law enforcement agency in the nation, for several years.

Interesting article here, at Dissident Voice: http://dissidentvoice.org/2009/06/homegrown-terror... .

are there elements in the 9/11 Truth movement that voice hate speech? absolutely. i think we need to own that - and work to demonstrate that THEY are atypical of the vast majority of people who still demand answers to 9/11.

but - how do you extrapolate that anyone who questions the official story of 9/11 is exercising hate speech?

this claim attempts to speak to the issue of motivation and thought crimes -and is frightening in what it suggests. they are suggesting that anyone who questions the official story is motivated by hate?

    i don't think so.

nice try - but no cigar.

On the 9/11 truth side, one issue agreement/Big Tent acceptance help to make the links possible.

One issue agreement: "Who cares what other beliefs X has, X questions 9/11! That is all that matters."

Big Tent: "Who cares what 9/11 theories X has, X doubts the OCT. That is all that matters."

On the propaganda side, conflation is a tried and true tactic. It worked for linking al Qaeda/Hussein/9/11. It worked for linking support for soldiers with support for Bush administration policies. And it works for linking skeptics of 9/11 with hate groups.

That's why Jan Hoyer was instrumental in getting our anti-racism and anti-violence statements onto the front of STJ911 almost immediately after the witch hunt began.
