Apparently he is a consultant for the X-Files film and the press release coincided with a movie release. I find it funny that this is no where on Blogger. Just here and Truthaction.

I've added a post on blogger. Even with just one hand to type, I had to. So insane . . .
This is what I found interesting in particular:
"Much to my surprise, this site contains an entire and intact news story from The People newspaper of London, dated October 25th, 1998, entitled "Yes, Aliens Really Are Out There, Says the Man on the Moon." In an "exclusive interview from his Florida Home," Dr. Mitchell at that time told reporter John Earls an almost identical story to the one he told Margerrison this week." http://redstarfilms.blogspot.com/2008/07/edgar-mit...
We don't have to guess at motives here. Just ask for a resignation.

No, we don't have to guess. But I would certainly like to ask. Not that I'd get an answer.
Mitchell should resign. But I'd also like to know who asked Mitchell to be on the commission where he would be paid $500,000 and why they thought he would make a good choice. And if I didn't get an adequate response, I'd like to ask for that person's resignation as well.

Although no reference is made about Mitchell in this online book, it is a useful resource of the connections of US Intelligence to the UFO phenomenon. There is definitely more on Mitchell in this area, I am just trying to source it better.
Let's play connect the dots:
Victronix:
"Meaning they can resurrect the story [about UFO's Aliens and Mitchell] whenever necessary for a headline."
That was my point. You mean, like during his time as NYC Ballot commissioner, he could start talking about aliens again--right in the middle of the investigation?
"Yes, there have been ET visitations. " Apollo 14 Astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, Ph.D. (Sixth Man to Walk on Moon) From Disclosure, pp. 61-64. See also The Way of the Explorer, Edgar Mitchell and Dwight Williams, p. 212. http://www.wanttoknow.info/050324ufotestimony

Victronix found this information:
"Institute for Cooperation in Space Alfred Webre and Carol Rosin founded the Institute for Cooperation in Space (ICIS) in 2001. The ICIS board is made up of various prominent individuals such as former astronauts Edgar Mitchell & Dr. Brian O'Leary, and others . . . http://www.peaceinspace.com/ab_board.shtml Website: www.peaceinspace.com"
Who is Alfred Webre? Who promotes his material in the 9/11 truth movement?

"The Science and the Politics of 9/11: What's Controversial, What's Not?" Speakers: ALFRED WEBRE, JUDY WOOD, JIM FETZER, etc http://www.oilempire.us/911scholars.html
Why am I not surprised about these connections?
To Review: Mitchell is a board member of Institute for Cooperation in Space founded by Alfred Webre. Alfred Webre is a huge fan of Judy Wood and regularly participates in events with Jim Fetzer and conferences involving topics like video fakery and Directed Energy Weapons (completely debunked). The "ready for mainstream!" event is a perfect example. We see Jim Fetzer and Webre being promoted by NY911Truth.org on the 9/11 anniversary. The man who runs NY911Truth.org is behind the NY911 Ballot campaign. How much am I willing to bet that it was this man who got Mitchell on the list of commissioners? Well let's just say I would be about as surprised as finding out that he is inviting Webre and Jim Fetzer to speak on another 9/11 anniversary.
NYC 9/11 Ballot commissioner Edgar Mitchell has direct ties to Alfred Webre http://arabesque911.blogspot.com/2008/08/nyc-911-b...
The Truthers Are Out There Leftwing causes converge with the 9/11 denial movement. by Sonny Bunch 09/24/2007, Weekly Standard, Volume 013, Issue 02
The LaRouchies seemed to realize they weren't welcome at the event, but it's hard to think that the sermon they were preaching was any more outlandish than, say, that of Alfred Webre, who was given 45 minutes to talk on the topics "9/11 as a war crime" and the "development of [an] international tribunal" for the Bush administration. After touching on those subjects (to great applause), he veered off course, arguing that an "artificial intelligence matrix" controlled by the Rothschild family might have caused 9/11, that the cancer rate in Iraq now stands at 30 percent, that AIDS is a biological weapon created to control the population, that global warming is being caused by a black hole 23 light years from Earth, and that the NYPD was employing a supersonic crowd disruption device that was depressing turnout.
It was really challenging not to raise my voice when he got to stating that directed energy weapons were presently being used on the crowd. If there had been more than forty people in the audience, I might have felt compelled to do so. It was really frustrating seeing that none of the other people on stage or in the audience even cracked a smile when he said this. There was a slight gasp and then silence. I was watching Les rather closely, and he didn't have any response whatsoever.
I think the Webre-Mitchell-Jamieson connection is rather telling, as you imply. Les stands under his three ring circus tent and pleads objectivity. He claims to be open to all those seeking the truth. He claims that he wants to give all sides a voice. He claims that we can't let our differences divide us.
It becomes more clear every day that our concerns about disruption of this movement are very well founded. Just like our collective understanding of 9/11 truth facts, we also have a collective understanding of people's behavior. Over time, people demonstrate their priorities in the actions they take.
I'm just about ready for some accountability.
I found an online diagram tool and fooled around for a little while. It's no kind of science, but it might get the gears turning.
Why is William Pepper on the chart?
Because he has now worked with Les on his last too projects. Both of which were questionable beyond any skepticism about Les. Yeah, it is surprising that someone who professes to be aware of disinformation appears to have put himself in such a contradictory position.
And to be honest, that makes me trust his judgment less than I had at one time. It might be nice to know, for instance, his views on July 23rd interview with Edgar Mitchell. It might be nice to know if he is aware of all the concerns that have been expressed here and at TruthAction about Les.
Without a greater effort on HIS part to ensure transparency and accountability he puts himself in the position of drawing skepticism and concern about his actions.
Very good points. Pepper has definitely shown that his ability to scrutinize leaves a lot to be desired in some of his past work on the King case.
From Peter Dale Scott's Road to 9/11, Page 285:
Most of what Pepper writes about army surveillance of King is documented and corroborated (cf. Steve Tompkins, "Army Feared King, Secretly Watched Him. Spying On Blacks Started 75 Years Ago," Memphis Commercial Appeal, March 21, 1993 [http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/1993/mar/21/army-feared-king-secretly-watched-him/]). Unfortunately, Pepper also transmitted the claim made to him that the 20th Special Forces Group had a sniper team in Memphis on April 4, 1968, to ensure that King was murdered. I believe from my own research that the sniper team story was disinformation from high sources in order to discredit Pepper. In particular, an alleged authorizing cable, citing Operation Garden Plot, is to a trained reader a self-revealing forgery.

Remember what happened to William Pepper? He believed some Ayers-like informants on the MLK case and made a central case against a former military man whom Pepper believed (and wrote) was then dead. So on national TV, what happened? The "dead" guy walked out onto the stage. His living didn't negate all of Pepper's work in reality. But in the popular mind? Pepper was the guy who had 'gotten it wrong' on TV. I fear strongly the same will happen to those who pursue this line of inquiry.
Here's an updated graph.
Dunno whether its worth it to add but there's a Paula Gloria - Rosalee Grable connection. I think Rosalee started psyco stalking video project as Dog4tree.
I had Gloria on the side while I was moving everything around. She's a bit obscure and has been more a sidekick to Nico and Gloria as of late than a presence of her own.
I'll keep adding, but I thought that it looked rather concise at this point relative to the events included and the more prominent players.
and made a central case against a former military man whom Pepper believed (and wrote) was then dead.
This was the same type of claim that sunk DRG on DemocracyNow because he was relying on Gerard Holmgren's research, a classic hoax propagadist. I wonder if that's a common "technique."
I found an online diagram tool and fooled around for a little while. It's no kind of science, but it might get the gears turning.
The list of people who endorsed the Kennebunkport Warning also has some interesting patterns. A surprising number of LaRouche disciples and Directed Energy Weapon promoters.
I would like to see the Alex Jones / Ron Paul / Fred Smart right wing nexus added to this chart or made into a new one.
christs4sale would probably be a good person to do a chart analysis of the whole John Birch Society / Eustace Mullins / NWO wing of conspiracy culture...
I will be interested when I have a bit more time. Here is more on Mitchell. Take a look at his Institute of Noetic Sciences for an organization that might be of interest. There is more in this book:
http://books.google.com/books?id=bgTG1dxoQ8kC&...
We should look into the sources, but none of this is reassuring about Mitchell potentially being a commissioner.
My response to William Pepper and Reprehensor is why not raise the issue that the Ballot Initiative could be undermined in a much more visible way and why not encourage some healthy criticism and scrutiny? I doubt Pepper's response to Truthmover will be seen by many people where it was posted in the comments. Reprehensor really should post something raising these issues on the main blog that everyone will see if the success of the Initiative is really important to him and Pepper.
I found more than one source claiming that Mitchell is a "good" friend of George H W Bush. Weird. I don't know if any of these sources are credible. Some have also alleged that this "Noetic" organization has ties to the CIA. I haven't confirmed any of this, so don't take this as "endorsement".
I have a very credible source saying that he is or was a very good friend of John Singlaub's. I just have not been able to corroborate it so I will not talk about it beyond this forum. Singlaub achieved the rank of Major General, is a noted Iran Contra figure and goes back to working with Charles Willoughby and Douglas MacArthur during the Korean War. He was head of the American chapter of the World Anti-Communist League, on the board of the Western Goals Foundation and a member of the American Security Council. Jimmy Carter forced Singlaub to retire as chief of staff of the UN Command in South Korea over disagreements on South Korean policy.
this "Noetic" organization has ties to the CIA.
That would be par for the course. The relationship of the CIA to the UFOlogist community seems interesting. I did just the smallest amt of digging into Stubblebine (a favorite of Alan Miller, patriotsquestion, who posts him around on forums as a representative of our mvmt) because someone was promoting him to our local group and this is what I found:
Gen Stubblebine - seen in the UFO community as a discreditor and potential infiltrator (!), primarily advocates that the Pentagon hole is too small (weak if not refuted).
From wikipedia -- Major General Albert "Bert" N. Stubblebine III was the commanding general of the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command from 1981 to 1984, when he retired from the Army. He is known for his interest in parapsychology and was a strong supporter of the Stargate Project. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargate_Project)
my comment -- Usually it's not helpful to mix UFOs, parapsychology and psychic phenomena interests with 9/11, nor people who were command positions in military intelligence for decades who now claim in public that the Pentagon hole was too small.
Also, the latest:
For weeks, Les Jameison told supporters, reporters, and petition gatherers that it was possible to put a citizens referendum for a new privately financed 9/11 commission on New York City's November ballot. From this week's New York: "They’re calling for a privately funded investigative panel, empowered with subpoena authority by the City Council and staffed with their own slate, including former senators Lincoln Chafee and Mike Gravel, 9/11 widow Lorie Van Auken, and Asner. They’d redo the work of Tom Kean’s federal commission, which they call “seriously flawed." Now we hear that the initiative has come up short of the requisite 30,000 signatures and will have to extend its petition drive to the next election cycle. http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2008/08/no_new_911_co...
"and financial donors like human-rights lawyer William Pepper" -- so Pepper is a financial donor who is donating to what would end up as his own $100k/yr salary as a Commissoner?
And why does a NYT reporter not have any interest in anything beyond good names? Seems bizarre.
