Every significant Internet provider around the globe is currently in talks with access and content providers to transform the internet into a television-like medium: no more freedom, you pay for a small commercial package of sites you can visit and you'll have to pay for seperate subscriptions for every site that's not in the package.

Speculative visual. No references. It's left wing propaganda. Not very kosher. And it's got me more concerned about the Ipower team than what they are pulling out of their ass. Here's a well justified response from someone on that site.

Also, here's a more reasonable summary of what we are presently facing. Its all about allowing people to slow the internet, pay for position, and try to get money back for investment in infrastructure. The first two have a very uphill battle, as lots of people are primed to defend against any changes. However, the third may drive rates up for everyone.

This is something real to worry about:

Proposed Treaty Turns Internet Into a Virtual Police State

Leaked documents are one of the banes of modern western politics. They reveal exercises and actions being proposed that are generally objectionable to the public. Such a leak occurred with the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) which seeks to turn the internet into a virtual police state.
